One Planet, One Chance

UN General Assembly Lobby, New York
3 September to 6 October 2008

"One Planet, One Chance" is an exhibit on the topic of climate change, and is located in the lobby of the United Nations General Assembly. Part of the campaign surrounding the 2007/2008 Report, this exhibit presents startling facts and figures of climate change and allows visitors to visualize the different impacts that countries have on global CO2 emissions.

The exhibition is entirely inspired on the Human Development Report 2007/2008 Fighting climate change: Human solidarity in a divided world. Climate change is the defining human development challenge of the 21st Century and failure to respond to that challenge will stall and then reverse advances in human development and undermine international efforts to alleviate poverty. The poorest countries and the most vulnerable citizens will suffer the earliest and most damaging setbacks, even though they have contributed the least to the problem. Looking to the future, no country—however wealthy or powerful—will be immune to the impact of climate change. Furthermore, the Report, and the exhibition One Planet, One Chance we have prepared based on its messages, show that climate change is not just a future scenario. Increased exposure to droughts, floods and storms is already destroying opportunities and reinforcing inequalities.

The exhibit is open to the public during regular UN General Assembly visiting hours.
